The Psych Clinic

About Dr. Faghfoory

The Psych Clinic's mission is to provide personalized, high-quality care on an as-needed or preventative basis. Over time, solid relationships are forged between patients and their doctor, relationships that are at once medical, psychological, and spiritual, so that the process of symptom relief, preventive measures to maintain good health, and overall improvement of quality of life all have the opportunity to take shape.

The Psych Clinic of Los Angeles is owned and operated by Amir Faghfoory, M.D., a psychiatrist board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) in Adult Psychiatry. Dr. Faghfoory (or "Dr. Amir", as some patients prefer) is currently licensed to practice medicine solely in the State of California. Dr. Faghfoory believes in working with his patients to maintain and improve their medical, psychological, and spiritual health and well-being. Ongoing contact and exchange of ideas with other healthcare professionals is also crucial to the effective treatment of his patients and the success of his practice.

As a lifelong student of Psychology, spirituality, cultural issues, and other fields of knowledge, he has a deep appreciation for and interest in patients of all backgrounds and life experiences. In the spirit of running an ethical practice, Dr. Faghfoory works diligently to provide sound mental health treatment to his patients and to be transparent about realistic expectations and clear goals for treatment. He also advocates providing health care services to his patients in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. He embraces and is humbled by the opportunity to share in his patients' lives and during their times of challenging circumstances, times of relative peace, joy, and ease, and everything in between!

About The Clinic

Los Angeles

Dr. Faghfoory also has had the opportunity to use his background in computers and Information Technology to work with patients remotely in the fast-growing and far-reaching field of Telemedicine or Telepsychiatry, as it sometimes named, consulting on patients in medical/surgical units, intensive care units, and emergency rooms in Northern and Southern California and Hawaii. He is also grateful to have had the opportunity over the years to use his background in languages in order to work with and treat patients who speak Persian (Farsi) and patients who speak Spanish.

He always enjoys learning about his patients' backgrounds, not only as a point of interest of culture and worldview, but also he believes very much that it is crucial to a greater understanding of what is important to his patients and their lives. Only in this way can a positive and meaningful connection on a "human" level be made with each and every patient. The essence of the so-called "doctor-patient relationship" is a "human-human relationship", a reality often overlooked in today's healthcare system. One of the most important goals of treatment is to foster this relationship and to strengthen its therapeutic effects throughout the course of treatment.

Dr. Faghfoory feels it is very important to view and treat each patient as a unique human being and there is no "one-size-fits-all"  or cookie-cutter approach to treatment. If given the opportunity, his hope is for each and every patient whom he meets and treats to feel a sense of satisfaction as a result of choosing him as his/her primary mental health provider and welcomes collaboration with patients' other practitioners/providers from any and all fields.

Dr. Faghfoory opened The Psych Clinic in 2016 with a vision -- one in which providing quality mental health care to patients is the most important priority. After completing his medical training at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, D.C., he relocated to Los Angeles, where he completed his Psychiatry Residency training at the world-renowned Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in West Los Angeles and received the Judd Marmor Faculty Award in recognition of clinical excellence in teaching medical students and physicians-in-training.

He has worked in federal, state, and county government settings, in the private sector, in emergency rooms, and in inpatient hospitals both in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. Dr. Faghfoory has also had the honor of working with our nation's Veterans in the Department of Psychiatry at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in West Los Angeles. He is an advocate of raising awareness for Women's Mental Health concerns as well.
